My Little Timeline of The Year
Quick guide to the Montessori Linear Calendar:
A "timeline" (time beam) is a linear calendar that helps children visualize the entire year at a glance. It’s a powerful tool to understand the concept of long-term time and seasonal cycles. My Little Concept offers a compact, free PDF version, perfect for apartments and children's bedrooms.
Why use a Montessori Linear Calendar at home?
The Montessori linear calendar (also known as a "time beam") is a fabulous tool, but it is often far too large for modern homes. That’s why we created a "mini" version: practical, discreet, and a perfect fit for a bedroom or living room.
What exactly is a linear calendar?
Unlike a traditional calendar where you flip pages, a linear calendar is a horizontal timeline. It allows children to grasp complex notions of past, present, and future by visualizing all 365 days of the year on a single line.
How to set up your timeline:
- Cutting: Cut out the rectangles from the PDF file.
- Assembly: Glue them together to form the long strip.
- Mounting: Use adhesive putty (like Patafix) to display it at your child's eye level.
- Ritual: Stick the daily label on each morning to help your child track the passage of time.
We’ve included labels for solstices, equinoxes, holidays, and birthdays. Your child can also create their own markers for the events that matter most to them.

The linear calendar handles the year, but what about the day? Our My Little Day routine clocks are the perfect companion to help children navigate their daily activities.

If you enjoy the Montessori approach, we highly recommend the "Balthazar" book series. The volume "Le temps qui passe" (The passage of time) is a wonderful complement to our tool to deepen the understanding of cycles.
